half.com

I have a quick rant. You’ve been warned.

So, I need to start paying more attention to things. I’ve been selling things off of half.com for a while and I purchase books, cds, dvds, etc. as well. I sold a bunch of my textbooks on half.com. I only just NOW checked over my sales and I see that half.com only reimburses me, the seller, for $2.64 for shipping, yet charge the buyer $3.49-3.99. It’s my fault for not having noticed sooner, but it is despicable on half.com’s part to not fully disclose the fact that the buyer is not spending the $3.49 on shipping. $0.85 is going straight into half.com’s pockets, along with the commission they charge. That is total bullshit. Fucking bullshit. If there is a listing fee, fine, just fully disclose this information. I hate shoddy business. You disrespect me by lying to me or failing to disclose pertinent information, I can take my business to other companies that will respect me as a customer. I fully plan on writing a letter of complaint.

I need a real job. Before the spring semester starts I plan to pound on every employer’s door and ask for a job. Beg if I have to. I’ll even work in food (there’s a bagel place I’d like to work at).

Just to reiterate – I NEED A JOB.

Late last night (or early early this morning) I participated in my first, and possibly last, flashmob. It was coordinated through facebook, of course, telling hundreds of students to flashmob and rave the undergraduate library at midnight.

I could say it was amazing and a life altering experience, but that would be lying. I did get to touch a hell lot of bodies and I got touched quite a bit as well. I don’t know if you’ve had the pleasure of feeling bodies all around you and the helplessness you feel as they try to push you forward, deeper and deeper into the crowd. I didn’t see much because I’m so short, and I knew I’d be the first to go, so I hung back. I didn’t want to go too far into the building, as I am very claustrophobic (so why did I agree in the first place? I haven’t come up with an answer for that yet). I haven’t pushed that many people that forcefully since I was in elementary school!

So while I did not have very much fun, it was an experience. Now I can proudly say I participated in the first flashmob of the university. It’ll probably be the last, considering the library got a bit trashed…we littered the floor with glow sticks, beer cans, paper; we even knocked down some of the lights. oops.
